Julie Francou

With an international career spanning a decade Francou was regarded as one of the nation’s finest centre court players. First selected in the National Squad at 18, Francou competed in two Gold Medal World Championship campaigns in 1979 and 1983. She defied the odds to overcome two knee reconstructions and played in 32 Tests for Australia.
She was named Captain of the Australian Team for the 1983 World Championships and left the role undefeated.
She was a National Selector in the 1990’s and coached the State Team to the Australian National Title in 1995, as well as the Ravens in the inaugural season of the Commonwealth Bank Trophy.
In 2011 she was inducted into the Netball Australia Hall of Fame and the next year she was included in the Netball SA Team of the Century.
