Fos Williams dominated and significantly changed the landscape of South Australia football, with Port Adelaide and Nationally with the State Team, to emerge as one of the most important figures in SA sport in the 20th Century.

Williams played in West Adelaide’s 1947 Premiership and in 1949 was named Captain-Coach of Port Adelaide, leading them to 6 Premierships (1951, 1954-1958) and 3 more as Coach (1962-1963 and 1965).

Williams played 34 State Games (15 as Captain) and had his crowning moment in 1963 when he coached South Australia to its first win since 1926, against Victoria on the MCG.

He is a member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, the SA Football Hall of Fame and PAFC Team of the Century.
