Charlie is without a doubt the most successful Australian Cycling Coach, and this is reflected in the fact that during his reign, Australia became a leader of track cycling.
His cyclists have won a total of 79 Gold Medals (8 Olympic, 35 World Championships, 36 Commonwealth Games), 50 Silver and 51 Bronze Medals, as well as setting 42 records (10 Olympic, 10 World Championships, 22 Commonwealth Games).
Based at the South Australian Institute of Sport from 1980 to 2001, Charlie was appointed Australian Institute Track Cycling Coach in 1987 and was instrumental in the setting up of a National Under 23 Road Team in Italy.
